Hello Kidz Klub!

Happy Monday!  Welcome to week 9 of our Kidz Klub Connection!  I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful weekend we had and are ready for more fun and exciting virtual learning.

This month of May we have been travelling all over the world on Where in The World !! We are journeying to countries near and far, learning about their history, culture & language, cuisine, and other fun facts.  We are being introduced to important citizens, visiting famous landmarks, and watching regional recipes being made.

I hope you are all well rested for this week’s adventures! We’re heading to 5 countries in Europe:  Spain, Italy, France, Poland, and Greece.

Are you ready? Let’s board our virtual airplane and fly to Spain!

  Be Safe. Be healthy. Enjoy!

Take good care.

Let's Learn About Spain!

History:

Did you know …  Spain is located beside Portugal and below France and is also the only European country that borders Africa. Settlers have migrated to Spain from Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean since the dawn of history. Spain is a constitutional monarchy, with the king and the elected president sharing the power. Today, Spain is a popular country to visit. It has beautiful cities, interesting countryside with mountains, beaches and a warm climate in summer.

Culture & Language:

Did you know …  Many Spaniards share a common ethnic background: a mixture of the early inhabitants of the Iberian Peninsula, the Celts, and later conquerors from Europe and Africa. Spaniards are known for their love of life and for eating and drinking with family and friends. With vibrant, historic cities and sunny beaches, Spain attracts more tourists than any other European country except France. Spain’s official language are Castilian Spanish, Basque, Catalan, and Galician.  Its currency is the euro.

Madrid, Spain:

Did you know …  Madrid is the capital of Spain and is its largest city. This city was officially made the national capital by Philip III, an entire generation after Philip II took the court to Madrid in 1561. Madrid is a city of contrasting styles, reflecting clearly the different periods in which change and development took place.

Famous Citizens:

Did you know …  The Spanish come across as fun loving, easy going people, but by no means are the Spaniards lazy people! In fact, the Spanish work for longer hours than do most Europeans.

Paella!

Although every region has its own distinct cuisine and specialties, Spain's culinary traditions rely on an abundance of locally grown vegetables and fruits as well as meats and poultry. Jamón serrano, a cured ham, and chorizo, a seasoned sausage, are popular. Seafood and fish are popular in coastal areas. Other popular foods are cheeses, eggs, beans, rice, nuts (especially almonds), and bread (a crusty white bread, baked fresh daily, is common).

Here’s a video of how to make Spain’s most popular seafood dish, Paella… Yum!
